The Chord Progression Maker on ChordProgressionMaker.com is a pure music theory calculation tool. It does not use your microphone. It does not accept audio file uploads. It does not make any network requests to generate chord progressions. Everything the tool does happens entirely within your browser using JavaScript.
There is no audio data to protect on this site because no audio data is ever involved.
What the Tool Actually Does With Your Input
When you select a root note, a key, and a progression style, the tool performs the following operations entirely within your browser:
- Constructs the diatonic scale for your selected key using the interval formula for the selected mode (major or natural minor)
- Builds the diatonic chord set by stacking thirds above each scale degree using the notes available in the scale
- Assigns Roman numeral labels and functional roles (tonic, subdominant, dominant) to each chord
- Applies the selected progression pattern to generate a chord sequence
- Displays the result on screen
At no point in this process does any data leave your browser. The chord progression output is generated by a JavaScript function running locally — there is no server call, no API request, and no external service involved.
The only “input” you provide is a root note, a key, and a progression style selection. These are not personal data. They are not logged. They are not stored. They disappear when you reload or close the page.
What This Site Does Not Do
Because ChordProgressionMaker.com is a pure calculation tool, it does not do any of the following:
- Does not access your microphone — no microphone permission is ever requested
- Does not capture, process, or store audio of any kind
- Does not accept audio file uploads
- Does not transmit chord selections, key selections, or progression results to any server
- Does not store your inputs in cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, or any persistent browser storage
- Does not use your tool inputs for any analytics, advertising, or profiling purpose
- Does not require account registration or any personal information to use
This is meaningfully different from audio tools that require microphone access or file upload and must document how that audio is handled. ChordProgressionMaker.com has no audio pipeline to document because it has no audio pipeline.
Cookies and Tool Data
The chord progressions you generate are displayed on screen for your reference during your session. They are not written to cookies. They are not stored in localStorage. They are not transmitted anywhere. Closing or reloading the page clears all generated content entirely.
The only cookies present on this site are essential WordPress session cookies used for basic site stability. No tracking cookies. No advertising cookies. No third-party profiling scripts. For a full explanation of the cookies used on this site, see the Cookie Policy.
Voluntary Contact Data
The only personal data this site ever receives is what you voluntarily provide through the contact form — your name (if given), your email address, and your message. This data is used only to respond to your enquiry. It is not shared with third parties, not added to any mailing list, and deleted after 12 months. For full details, see the Privacy Policy.
Advertising and Analytics
ChordProgressionMaker.com does not currently run advertising. If basic anonymous analytics are present on this site, they collect only aggregate page-level data — page views, browser type, approximate region — through standard HTTP metadata. Analytics have no access to your tool inputs, your chord selections, or any data generated during a tool session.
HTTPS Encryption
All pages on ChordProgressionMaker.com are served over HTTPS. All data exchanged between your browser and this site’s server — page content, scripts, and contact form submissions — is encrypted in transit. Tool inputs and outputs never travel over the network and therefore require no network-level protection.
Children’s Privacy
ChordProgressionMaker.com does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. The tool requires no account registration, requests no personal information, and transmits no user data of any kind. If you believe a child has submitted personal data through the contact form, contact Emily Sanders at contact@chordprogressionmaker.com and the data will be deleted promptly.
Reporting a Security Concern
If you identify a potential security vulnerability on ChordProgressionMaker.com — including any unexpected network behaviour from the tool that contradicts what is documented on this page — report it immediately via the Contact page with the subject line “Security Concern.” Emily Sanders reviews all security reports personally within 48 hours.
Your Privacy Rights
Your rights regarding any personal data this site may hold are documented in full on the Privacy Policy and GDPR and CCPA pages.
